Central Washington linebacker Buddy Wood and Dixie State punter have been selected to the Daktronics NCAA Division II Super Regional IV all-star football team.

The team is selected by the region's sports information directors.

Wood has led a CWU defense that ranks first nationally in scoring defense (11.2) and rushing defense (55.1) and second in total defense (237.2) powering the Wildcats to a perfect 12-0 record and a No. 1 national ranking.

Wood ranks ninth in the GNAC in tackles with 92 and is the GNAC leader, along with teammate Prince Hall, in tackles for losses with 15 1/2. He is also the conference leader in fumble recoveries (5) and forced fumbles (4), tying conference records in both categories.

During his career, Wood has had more tackles (366), fumble recoveries (11) and forced fumbles (9) than anyone else in conference history.

Langston was one of the top punters in the nation this season, ranking first in the GNAC and seventh in the country with a 41.6 average. Twelve of his 70 punts were 50 yards or longer.

Four other CWU players were named to the second team - offensive lineman Tony Quirk, wide receiver Johnny Spevak, running back Randall Eldridge and kicker Garrett Rolsma.

Spevak has 71 catches for 990 yards and 12 touchdowns this season and needs just eight more catches to match the NCAA Division II all-time career record of 323 receptions set by Clarence Coleman of Ferris State between 1998 and 2001
