ROHNERT PARK, CA - A four-match win streak came to a screeching halt Wednesday as the #50 Dixie State (6-6) women’s tennis team was swept 9-0 by #45 Sonoma State (5-4).
Despite the defeat, head coach Eric Pelton put the match in perspective. "It was a good match. The girls unfortunately were not able to convert some of the game points they had that would have made it a closer match."
Dixie State’s closest chances for a win came in doubles. No. 1 duo of Alicia Holm and Courtney Kezerian fell 8-5 while the No. 2 team of Ashley Lafeen and Lydia Hays lost 8-6.
The Red Storm tennis team continues play in Northern California with two matches on Friday. In the morning, DSC faces Academy of Art beginning at 8:30am. The second match pits Dixie State against Mills College at 2pm.
