College of Eastern Utah’s Tyler Kepkay wins third weekly honor

Price, UT--St George, UT- College of Eastern Utah’s Tyler Kepkay was named to his second Scenic West Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week award Wednesday.

 

Kepkay, a 6-0 freshman from Vancouver, British Columbia, helped give the Golden Eagles a crucial split with Salt Lake CC helping keep pace with the Bruins. Kepkay the leading scorer in the SWAC, averaging 28.7 ppg. In 24 games with CEU, he has been the leading scorer in a stellar 21 games.  For the weekend, Kepkay scored 63 points, was 19-30 from the field and a solid 22-25 from the FT line.

Michelle PaceSalt Lake CC Michelle Pace wins weekly honors

Salt Lake City, UT--St George, UT- Salt Lake Community College's Michelle Pace was named as the Scenic West Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week award Wednesday.

 

Pace, a 5-11 freshman forward from Salt Lake City, UT. The Bruins (20-4, 12-2 SWAC) extended their 8 game win streak with two wins over the College of Eastern Utah and maintain first place over CSI. Pace netted 22 points, was 8-14 from the field and 10-17 from the FT line. This is Pace's first SWAC honor.

 Snow College’s Geoff Payne wins weekly honors

Ephraim, UT--St George, UT- Snow College’s Geoff Payne was named as the Scenic West Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week award Wednesday.

 

Payne, a 6-7 sophomore from Sandy, Utah, helped give the Badgers to two wins huge wins over the Salt Lake CC and put the Badgers in a tie the Bruins for second place. Payne scored 48 points and was 17-28 from the field and added 14 rebounds. This is his second honor of the year.

North Idaho’s Jessica Thielen wins weekly honors

Coeur d’Alene, ID--St George, UT- North Idaho College’s Jessica Thielen was named as the Scenic West Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week award Wednesday.

 

Jordan, a 5-10 freshman from Mount Baker HS in Jaffrey British Columbia. She helped the Cardinals knock first place College of Southern Idaho into second place. The Cardinals earned the split with Thielen scoring 27 points and  grabbing 18 rebounds. With the win CSI is now one game behind Salt Lake CC. This is Thielen's first SWAC award of the year.

College of Southern Idaho’s Kelvin Davis wins weekly honors

Twin Falls, ID--St George, UT- College of Southern Idaho’s Kelvin Davis was named as the Scenic West Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week award Wednesday.

 

Davis, a 6-4 sophomore transfer (UTEP) from Waterbury, Conn., helped break the Snow College Badgers 4 game streak and guide the Golden Eagles (16-2, 6-2 SWAC) to two wins and maintain first place in the SWAC. Davis scored 42 points and was 13-25 from the field, adding 6 three-pointers and 13 rebounds.

North Idaho’s Simone Jordan wins weekly honors

Coeur d’Alene, ID--St George, UT- North Idaho College’s Simone Jordan was named as the Scenic West Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week award Wednesday.

 

Jordan, a 5-10 freshman from Portland, OR, helped the Cardinals (16-2, 6-2 SWAC) to two wins over the College of Eastern Utah and maintain pace with first place Southern Idaho. Jordan scored 36 points and was 10-26 from the field, adding 6 three-pointers and 7 rebounds.

Ephraim, UT--St George, UT- Snow College’s Geoff Payne was named as the Scenic West Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week award Wednesday.

 

Payne, a 6-7 sophomore from Sandy, Utah, helped give the Badgers (12-4, 4-2 SWAC) to two wins over the College of Eastern Utah and extend the Badgers conference win streak to 4. Payne scored 39 points and was 15-18 from the field and added 12 rebounds. His performance was pivotal in helping the Badgers a first place tie.

Ephraim, UT--St George, UT- Snow College’s Lindsie Wilson was named as the Scenic West Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week award Wednesday.

 

Wilson, a 6-2 freshman from Pleasant Grove, UT, helped the Badgers (10-6,3-3 SWAC) to two wins over the College of Eastern Utah. Wilson scored 25 points in Friday nights 67-51 win and for the week was 13-26 from the field, adding 2 three-pointers and 18 rebounds.

Price, UT--St George, UT- College of Eastern Utah’s Tyler Kepkay was named to his second Scenic West Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week award Wednesday.

 

Kepkay, a 6-0 freshman from Vancouver, British Columbia, helped give the Golden Eagles (12-3, 3-1 SWAC) a crucial road victory over Salt Lake CC and extend the Bruins to overtime on Friday night. During Friday’s game Kepkay scored 32 points and added 36 more on Saturday night’s 82-72 victory. For the week he was 21-36 from the field, he added a stellar 18-19 from the FT line. He also made 8 three pointers.

Salt Lake CC’s Katie King wins weekly honors

Salt Lake City, UT--St George, UT- Salt Lake Community College’s Katie King was named as the Scenic West Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week award Wednesday.

 

King, a 6-1 sophomore from Layton, UT, helped the Bruins (12-2, 4-0 SWAC) to two wins over the College of Eastern Utah. King scored 22 points in Friday nights 77-74 win and added 12 points in a 62-56 win Saturday. King for the week was 12-21 from the field and added 11 rebounds. With the wins the Bruins remained in a tie for first place.

Price, UT--St George, UT- College of Eastern Utah’s Tyler Kepkay was named Scenic West Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week Wednesday.

 

Kepkay, a 6-0 freshman from Vancouver, British Columbia, helped give the Golden Eagles (8-1, 2-0 SWAC) two victories over Colorado Northwestern CC in the first week of SWAC league play. In Friday night’s game Kepkay scored 45 points and CEU needed them all, defeating CNCC 118-104. Kepkay for the week he was 27-44 from the field, a stellar 61.4 percentage. He also made 8 three pointers and 10 assists.

  Salt Lake CC’s Amy Passey wins weekly honors

SLC, UT-St George, UT- Salt Lake CC forward Amy Passey was named Scenic West Athletic Conference Co-Player of the Week on Wednesday.

 

Passey, a 5-10 sophomore from Idaho Falls, ID, led the Bruins (8-1, 2-0 SWAC) to two victories over the Snow College Badgers in the opening weekend of conference play.  In the Bruins 78-62 victory over the Badgers on Friday night, Passey had 14 rebounds and scored 14 points. In Saturday’s 76-56 victory, she added 10 points and 6 rebounds.  

 

For the week Passey had 20 rebounds, six of those on the offensive side and shot 50.0 percent from the field (8-16) and was 6-for-8 from the free throw line (.750). This is Passey’s first conference player of the week award.
