NJCAA REGION XVIII/SWAC
SUGGESTED HOME GAME
MANAGEMENT POLICY
I. The HOME institution is responsible to
provide both the men and women's coaches with the following:
A. At least THREE WEEKS prior to the
scheduled game:
1. A
map of area and facilities, designating the playing site with instructions on
where to park, enter the building, and dress.
2. A list of motels, restaurants, and
fast-food establishments in the area.
3. Pre-game time schedule designating
the introduction of players, national anthem, etc.
4. Visiting team information sheet.
5. Ticket and game entrance policy.
6. Team rosters to coaches and SID.
B. On game day the home institution
should:
1. Provide a host to meet the teams and
take them to their dressing area.
2. Provide a chalkboard, chalk, and
eraser.
3. Provide towels for the bench and for
showering after the game.
4. Provide water and cups for the bench.
5. Supply drinks either at halftime or
at the end of the game.
6. Provide practice balls.
7. Provide halftime facilities.
8. Provide accumulated stats to the
coaches at halftime and at the end of the game.
9. Supply necessary information
concerning:
a. Trainer, training room, medical staff
b. Blood pathogen procedures
c. Location of team bench
d. Pre-game procedures
e. Video tape procedures (Either give
the coach the game tape at the end of the game or send a copy Monday following
the game.) Video tape needs to continue until the playing floor is cleared.
10. Provide a telephone that can be used to
call in the scores/stats.
11. Answer any questions and help take care
of concerns.
12. Provide adequate and sufficient seating
for visiting team personnel and complimentary guests during both the women's
and men's games.
13. Tell cheerleaders the procedures for
your facilities.
14. Provide a phone line that can be
accessed by the visiting radio station.
15. Call in region scores and stats to the
designated SWAC media outlet.
16. Make
every effort to provide the visiting teams a minimum of thirty (30) minutes for
shoot arounds.
II. The HOME institution athletic director is
responsible to:
A. Provide the official’s coordinator
with a completed home game schedule (including day, date, opponent, place, and
time of games).
B. Secure game confirmation or contract
for all home games.
C. Suggested that game officials be
provided with:
1. Letter of confirmation.
2. Map of facilities, etc.
3. Any special instructions and
necessary information.
III. The VISITING coach is responsible to:
A. Return the visiting team information
sheet to the host institution at least TWO WEEKS prior to the game date.
B. Make sure team members and team
personnel adhere to Region ticket and admission policies.
C. Respect the host institution
facilities (refrain from spilling drinks, spitting on the floor or carpets,
throwing and breaking facilities and equipment, etc.).
D. Be responsible to adhere to the
institution's blood pathogen procedure.
E. Be responsible to return all towels.

TICKET AND GAME
ADMISSION POLICY
I. Each visiting institution will be allowed
10 complimentary tickets to use however the institution decides. The passes are primarily for coach's
spouses/partners, cheerleader advisor(s), SID, AD, and/or appropriate college
personnel. (If there is a need for
additional passes for appropriate persons in the official college party,
arrangements should be made before the game with the host AD).
A. Host institution should indicate the
number of tickets in the game contract.
B. Host institution must provide seating
behind the visiting bench for twenty-eight (28) visiting guests/team personnel:
1. 10 guests
2. 18 team personnel (players, coaches,
trainers, manager, statisticians, etc.) It is suggested that these individuals
enter the game together.
C. Host institution must provide two
seats either at the score table or in the press area for the SID and/or radio.
D. The
host institution will be allowed ten (10) cheerleaders and one mascot from the
visiting institution in free.
E. If
the visiting institutions performing group (drill/dance/etc.) is performing at
halftime due to a mutual agreement between the host and visiting institutions
athletic directors, appropriate seating and facilities will be provided. The visiting performing group will be allowed
into the game free provided the host institution is given a list of names of
the performing group at least the day before the game.
II. Bands
A. Can only perform during home
events. They may perform at away events
only with the mutual agreement of the host institution(s).
1. Host institution must provide
appropriate area for visiting band.
2. Band members and director must
purchase tickets.
3. Band director should have the band
perform only at times previously allowed by the host event
administration.
III. Scouting Coaches
A. Contact the
institution athletic director if possible the day before the game or morning of
the game to have your name placed on a pass list or tickets made available.

CHEERLEADER/MASCOT POLICY
1. All cheerleaders dressed in uniform and
one (1) mascot will be allowed into away games free.
2. The host institution will determine the space
where both the home and visiting cheerleaders can be during a live ball. The area for the visiting squad will
accommodate the number of cheerleaders appropriate to the facility space and up
to a maximum of ten (10) cheerleaders and one (1) mascot.
3. The cheerleaders cannot stand or perform in
front of seated audiences during live balls.
(If cheerleaders are in front of seated audiences they must kneel or be
seated.) The cheerleaders’ area will be
designed near and on the end of the floor closest to their own team’s bench.
4. Appropriate seating/space shall be provided for
the visiting cheer squad. If bringing
additional cheer squad members beyond the ten and one mascot, notify the
visiting AD of the number coming to insure appropriate seating for squad.
5. Visiting cheerleaders can have their whole
squad on the floor during dead ball times only when the host institution
designates.
6. Cheerleaders are an official part of the event
and they represent their institutions.
They should perform according to good sportsmanship standards especially
during the shooting of free throws.
Cheerleaders cannot be in the extended free throw lane area during the
shooting of a free throw.
7. Cheerleaders can use megaphones as long as they
use them for cheering (no pounding on the floor) rather than as an artificial
noisemaker. No artificial noise makers
of any kind can be used by cheerleaders.
8. Mascots are governed by the same rules as the
cheerleaders. They should be removed
form the area if they openly flaunt or mock the game officials.
9. Cheerleaders will not perform during thirty
(30) second timeouts (Basketball Rule book)
SWAC ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM AWARD POLICY
1.
A
SWAC All-Academic Team Award has been established to honor student athletes who
have established a 3.2 or better GPA.
A. Requirements:
1.
Must have completed two (2) full time
semesters or three (3) full time quarters.
2.
Must have participated in at least one (1)
season at the collegiate level.
3.
Must have an accumulative GPA of 3.2.
B.
Nominees for awards must be submitted to
the Men’s Regional Director before June 30.
